GREENVILLE — The Darke County Commissioners approved additional funds for two organizations through Ohio Department of Aging Healthy Aging Grant. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs and Larry Holmes were present.
Because additional funding was available through the grant, the commissioners were able to provide Miami Valley Community Action Partnership (CAP) and Shared Harvest Foodbank with additional funding. CAP will receive $5,854.04 to provide housing assistance through rent/mortgage assistance, utility assistance and home repairs to residents 60 years of age and older to support long term housing security. The additional funding brings the total presented to CAP to $49,163.04.
Shared Harvest Foodbank received an additional $8,264. The funding they receive will help provide prepared meals and food distribution to residents 60 years of age and older. The additional funding brings their total to $51,573. Commission Holmes pointed out the need during the meeting and said that at the most recent food distribution Shared Harvest provided food to 360 local families.
Commissioners authorized a service contract with Darke County Courts and Child Services Enforcement Agency to begin Oct. 1 and end Sept. 30, 2025. According to Carla Allen, director of Job & Family Services, the contract is needed to receive federal reimbursements. The total cost of the contract is $55,887.85. Allen pointed out this is lower than last year’s total. In 2023-34 the unit cost was $47.39. With the new contract the unit cost is $46.57.
Commissioners also approved a change order for the parking lot installation at Garst Avenue Government Complex. While preparing the lot for the addition to the parking lot, they realized they needed to remove and replace 76 feet of the existing sanitary sewer lateral and install 185 fee of new water service. The total cost is $14,286.46.
A change order for a Greenville resident participating in the CHIP Repair program was also approved. Additional sheathing was needed for the roof repair. The additional funding was $1,600 for a total project cost of $16,859.
