COLUMBUS – Versailles’ Brett McEldowney, Kyle Subler and Keaton McEldowney earned all-state honors from Prep Baseball Report Ohio for the 2016 season.
Brett McEldowney, a senior during the 2016 season, was named first team all-Ohio as a pitcher in Division III by Prep Baseball Report Ohio. As a pitcher he threw 67 innings for the Tigers, compiling a 10-1 record with one save. He had a 1.51 ERA and struck out 61 batters.
Subler was named honorable mention all-state as a catcher. During his junior season he hit .360 with three doubles, three triples, a home run, 32 runs and 16 RBIs.
Keaton McEldowney also earned honorable mention all-Ohio honors as a utility player. As a pitcher he was 4-1 with a 2.46 ERA in 25 innings, striking out 20 batters in the process. Offensively he hit .359 with six doubles, a triple, 19 runs and 23 RBIs.
Versailles won the Midwest Athletic Conference championship during the 2016 season and advanced to the final four of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III tournament before losing to eventual state champion Berlin Hiland in the state semifinals.
Berlin Hiland’s Eric Mullet was named the Prep Baseball Report Division III player of the year. Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy’s Chase Murray was named the position player of the year while Mullet and Paulding’s Damon Egnor were named the Division III co-pitchers of the year. Berlin Hiland’s Tom Gibson was named the Division III coach of the year.
