DARKE COUNTY — Area fire departments are hosting a free 9-volt battery exchange (limit 5 per Darke County address).
“We want to help keep you and your family safe, participate in the smoke detector battery exchange. Bring us your spent 9-volt battery,” said organizers. “Check with your local fire department to see if they are participating.”
Exchange batteries on the following dates:
October 1 – November 7 – City of Greenville Fire Department, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
October 1 – November 7 – Darke Co Solid Waste District, Monday—Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
October 1 – November 7 – Darke Co Homeland Security/EMA, Monday—Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
First and third Wednesday of each month – Pitsburg Fire Department, 7 p.m.
October 30 – North Star Fire Department, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
October 30 – Keller Grain Parking Lot in Pitsburg, Pitsburg Fire Department, 2 to 4 p.m.
Osgood Fire Department – check with the department for dates and times.
Versailles Fire Department – check with the department for dates and times.
Batteries are distributed with the help of Darke Co Homeland Security/EMA and local fire departments. The program is funded by the Darke County Solid Waste Management District.
