Versailles boys bowling team defeats St. Marys

MINSTER – The Versailles boys began the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference season with a 2,842-2,645 victory against St. Marys on Saturday at Community Lanes in Minster.

Jacob Wenig led the Versailles boys bowling team with games of 218 and 212. Also for the Tigers, Alex Groff had games of 246 and 147, Luke Shellhaas had games of 216 and 147, Kyle Cotner had games of 174 and 179, and Brandon Bradley rolled a 206.

Versailles’ boys improved to 1-0 on the season with the victory while St. Marys fell to 0-1.

Versailles’ girls bowling team began the season with a 2,519-2,389 loss to St. Marys on Saturday at Community Lanes.

Morgan Heitkamp led Versailles’ girls with games of 157 and 230. Also for the Lady Tigers, Brigette Holsapple had games of 199 and 168, Makenzie Berning had games of 187 and 167, and Jamee Brown rolled a 130.

Versailles’ girls fell to 0-1 on the season with the loss while St. Marys improved to 1-0.

Versailles’ bowling teams will continue the WOHSBC season on Saturday at Plaza Lanes in Celina. The Versailles boys will face Celina at 9:45 a.m. while the Versailles girls will face Celina at 1 p.m.
