Keeping prayer in high school athletics

VERSAILLES – On February 25 and 26, the OHSAA held its Division II State Swimming competition in Canton, Ohio. As in years past, Versailles High School sent a great group of girls to compete, including two relay teams and three individual event competitions.

Among the Versailles girls was a group of four high school seniors: Ashlyn Cordonnier, Lexi Fliehman, Abbey Marshal, and Rachel Subler. During their high school careers, these four girls have compiled eight state medals and countless high school and meet records, many of which will exist for years to come.

Throughout their swimming careers, they have experienced the benefits of hard work and dedication. But they have also learned to appreciate that faith in God and belief in each other are cornerstones of athletic competition and life. Philippians 4:13 – “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

“Thank you for the memories. We wish them success and happiness in all their future endeavors,” said Travis and Kelly Fliehman.
