Arcanum News: Signs of Spring in Arcanum

Arcanum High School Choir, Band and Jazz Band invite you to come and enjoy their concert this Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in the cafetorium. The high school band recently returned from their Disney World trip and would like to thank members of the community for their support; and give special thanks to the Arcanum Lion’s Club and VFW post #7262 for their monetary donations to make the trip possible.

The Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society will be open for the Arcanum Alumni on April 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. If Alumni are searching or looking for a particular class photo or item it’s recommend they contact Annette Stewart ahead of time at [email protected]. They will have a special display out of old school and class photos from southern Darke County; these will be open for viewing in April, May and all summer. They will also be open May 20, 21, and 22 during Old Fashioned Days. This summer they we will host the Farmers Market available starting June 4-August 13 on Saturday mornings. Vendors with questions can contact Sharon Troutwine. The house will also be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the summer beginning in June.

Faith United Methodist Church and FHC Fellowship are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for children of the Arcanum Community up through the 4th grade. The hunt will be in Ivester Park on March 26 at 2 p.m. They plan to hold the hunt “rain or shine” (assuming no downpours or snow). Children should bring an Easter basket to collect their eggs in. The eggs will have individually wrapped pieces of candy in them. There will also be a limited number of special prize eggs. Refreshments will be provided after the egg hunt. An Easter Egg Hunt in Gordon Park will be held on March 26 at 2 p.m. hosted by Gordon UMC, Grace UMC/Ithaca and St. Matthew’s Lutheran/Ithaca. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. for children aged 12 and under.

Pleasant View Missionary Church will be hosting Easter Egg Hunts at the park in Pitsburg and also in Gettysburg on March 19th starting at 11 a.m. For more details, please phone the church at 937-447-3885.

Construction crews are once again on site at Arcanum Schools to complete the work that was started last summer. Approximately 50 percent of the work has been completed, with the remainder of the work to be finished this summer. Please be aware of the following: 1) be mindful of the additional traffic on and off the campus; 2) the back parking lot is once again closed and is off limits at all hours; 3) The walking path will only be partially opened for walkers and is closed around the back of the building, and 4) parking for softball and baseball games is available in the front parking lot. Administrators thank you for your continued patience as they complete the project.

Coming this summer will be yet another exciting development for Ivester Park! The Village of Arcanum is on a mission to build new exciting playground equipment where every child will have the opportunity to play! Check out the plans on this website:

Reservations for the Arcanum Trojan Homecoming Event on April 16 will be accepted until the deadline, April 2. Please consider supporting the Arcanum Alumni Scholarship Fund to further the education of a member of our current senior class. The scholarships are funded by local businesses and the alumni base.
