NORTH STAR — The Village of North Star would like to recognize and thank North Star American Legion Post 174 and the Friends of North Star for contributing funds that were used to upgrade the facilities at the North Star Community Center.

The floor and the lighting in the gym were outdated, so upgrades were definitely needed.

“We now have the sealed concrete with color chip flooring, done by Minster Concrete Coatings and the lighting and ceiling tiles were installed by Scott’s Electric (Versailles),” said a spokesperson. “The walls were also painted by Garber Painting (Greenville).”

The facility is available for rent for family parties, graduations, etc. It is also host to CYO basketball, men’s basketball, various workout classes, and numerous meetings for several organizations. North Star Legion Post 174 contributed $7,000 to the project, while the Friends of North Star contributed $3,000.

“There were also many hours put in by council members and village residents in preparation for these projects,” the spokesperson said. “We thank everyone who had a hand in this, and invite you to come check it out during the annual North Star Firemen and Legion Picnic, July 16 and 17.”
