Boyd Dance Studios win many awards

NEW BREMEN — Boyd Dance Studios (BDS) in New Bremen has completed another successful dance season.

BDS recently celebrated their 37th anniversary year with their annual dance recital “Time To Shine.” The three sold out shows featured tiny tots age 2.5 up to seasoned 18-year-old performers, dancing to a variety of dance styles in jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, ballet, musical theater and tumbling.

BDS Performing Arts Company started out their dance season with a bang as eight students were selected to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live on NBC in New York City. This was the third time students from the studio have been selected and participated the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. While in New York City the students had five days of rehearsals to prepare for the parade performance and were also able to take in many sightseeing tours as well as seeing the Tony Award winning Broadway musical “Hamilton.”

Many awards were won by the Performing Arts Company throughout their competition season, which Include eligibility to attend four National Level competitions, they selected Encore Talent Productions as their choice for Nationals held at the Great Wolf Lodge in Cincinnati.

Boyd Dance Studios soloists, duets and groups received many Top Honors, Overall winnings, Judges Choice Awards and Title Awards.

Representing in the petite solo (8-9 age) division and receiving many overall placements was Charly Jellison.

In the junior solo (10-12 age) division receiving top placements in the overalls were dancers Alexis Stueve, Gabby Terpstra, Layne Voisard and receiving a Junior Miss Title Award was Jordan Ward.

In the teen solo (13-15 age) division receiving overall placement was Shelby Ranly.

Receiving many top awards in the senior solo (16-18 age) division were Keshia Filadelfo, Drew Alt, Kylie Naylor, Sarah Condon, Chloe Schwartz and Mikaela McGee.

Representing the duets receiving Overall Top scores and National First Place Over All winners in the Teen (13-15 age) Division Sarah Condon and Jordan Ward and Teen (13-14 age) Division Kylie Naylor and Mikaela McGee. In the petite (5-7 age) duets receiving a top over placement were Jett Jellison and Colin Miltner.

In the small groups and Large Group Jazz, Lyrical and Tap Categories the following groups received Platinum Awards, Judges Choice Awards and Top overall awards.

Representing the youngest Petite (5-7 age) Large group division receiving top scores and were the National First-Place winners were Franky Jellison, Jett Jellison, Cameo Middendorf, Piper Hays, Janessa Smuts, Colin Miltner, Brooklyn Homan, Zoe Stricker, Madison Williams, Alaina Bruns, Johonna McClintock, Aurora Lauterbach and Jordyn Stueve.

In the Junior (10-12 age) group Jazz and Tap division winning many top overall placement awards were dancers Jessica Miltner, Maddi McClurg, Charly Jellison, Elizabeth Eiting, Katie Kogge, Layne Voisard, Avery Wilges, Gabby Terpstra, Morgan Ketner, Margaret Hirschfeld and Kaitlyn Grillot.

Representing the Teen (13-16 age) division and receiving many Platinum awards, Top overall awards were dancers Mikaela McGee, Kylie Naylor, Chloe Schwartz, Sarah Condon, Keshia Filadelfo, Drew Alt, Savannah Henning, Shelby Ranly, Jordan Ward, Lexi Blaine and Ava Moran.

Taking the top spot, in the Junior Production division receiving many Platinum awards, Outstanding performance awards, Entertainment award and winning the Nationals Highest score and were national overall winners were a combination of all the junior and teen group dancers.

Boyd Dance Studios takes pride in teaching students that hard work and dedication truly pays off.

“We offer dance education with an award winning curriculum taught by an outstanding teaching staff. BDS is now taking registration for their upcoming 2016-17 dance season,” said a spokesperson.

A new adult class being offered this year is “Fire It Up Fitness!” This 45-minute jazz dance-based conditioning and fitness class is for adults 18-99.
