Youth For Christ banquet upcoming

GREENVILLE — Youth for Christ (YFC) is asking everyone who has ever had contact with YFC to share their story, in a few sentences, of what the experience meant to you, as part of the upcoming “Report to the People and Fundraising Banquet” program.

Hundreds of local adults went on YFC bike trips or retreats as a teenager, or were regularly involved in a club. Others have been involved as supporters, volunteers, or perhaps were touched by a testimony of a teenager at one of the many banquets or programs that have been held.

“YFC wants to hear your story of a special moment or meaningful memory you recall,” said organizers. “Whether your moment is funny or meaningful, YFC would love to hear what you have to say. You might also share “why you care” about the mission YFC pursues.”

Check out the stories shared so far on Facebook.com/yfcmv then add your own thoughts while you’re there, or share them through Twitter, Instagram, or your favorite social media site. Use the hashtag #myyfcstory to make sure your comments are found. If you’d rather just mail or e-mail YFC a note, mail submissions to: Youth for Christ, P.O. Box 266, Greenville, OH 45331. E-mail submissions can be sent to: [email protected].

Some of the stories will be shared at the YFC banquets this year, and comments displayed during the dinners will win YFC gear or apparel for those who submitted them.

During the YFC banquets, which will be held on Monday, Nov. 14 and Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the “All Season’s Place” at the Lighthouse Christian Center, attendees will have one final chance to post their stories for the rest of the guests to see.

“This is just one way Youth for Christ is making sure all their banquet guests have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for kids rather than just listen and see what others are doing,” said organizers. “In fact, anyone considering skipping this year’s banquets because they believe they’ve ‘seen it all before’ should consider taking a second look. This year’s banquet will be more interactive than those just few years back, and yet, those who want to just sit back and observe will be able to do that, too.”

“’Give Life!’ is the theme of this year’s dinners,” said Neal Crawford, Executive Director of YFC. “The program will challenge every adult to let God use them to share His life with teens needing purpose and direction, while at the same time adding life to their own stories. Participants will be invited to impact kids’ lives in any number of ways through their time, prayers, influence, or support. The invitation to do that will be clear and compelling, and yet no one will be pressured or made to feel obligated to get involved in any way.”

There is no cost to attend or to host a table thanks to generous businesses and individuals who underwrite the event, however reservations are required. Call Youth for Christ at 937-548-2477 or e-mail [email protected] for reservations and see how you can “give life” to a teen that is struggling to find it.
