Time flies when you are having fun. At least that’s what they say. I’m not sure why I am continually surprised by how fast the days go, especially when you are enjoying the summer with your little women that are actually turning into little women and that term is no longer fun and cute. My girls will be entering the fourth grade! Seems like it was just days ago that I was didn’t know if I was coming or going. The more I try to look back, the more I realize that in that first year of having the twins, I was absolutely exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, there are days that I am still exhausted, but it sure is nice these little ladies can do a lot more on their own. But it’s that fine line I’m trying to adjust to that they are no longer little, little kids but ‘tweens, as they often remind me.
Go Roaders! The football held “Midnight Maul” Thursday. The football team practiced at the football field at 10:30 p.m. and started to “hit” at midnight. Kudos to Mr. McGiffin, BHS A.D. and Coach Hyatt, BHS head football coach for organizing the Midnight Maul! The kids are excited to bring back the football that our village has always loved on Friday nights!
I’m ashamed to say that we have have never made it to movie in the park. Not because we weren’t interested, but simply because we are always out of town this time of year. This year, “Frozen” was played in the park. The village was able to raise just enough funds to host movie in the park and are thankful for the wonderful donations that made it possible.
• Pee Wee Football
The Pee Wee football team is in need of donations for a few players that need a little assistance. The family of Derek Hawes, the little boy we lost this year to a tragic bike accident, would like to offer their “DJ’s HOPE” account for donations. To make a donation, you can go to any Covington Savings and Loan location and put money in the account. It is under Mary Tedrow Harrison or Susan Harper. Thank you in advance for any help you maybe able to offer these students. Be on the look out this year, we have more than one little lady on the football team! Another way you may be able to assist is to donate old cleats! (I love how our town works together!)
• Band Boosters
The Bradford Band Boosters are looking for vendors for the 20th annual craft show that will be held from 9-4 p.m. on Nov. 21. Last year’s show was a huge success. If any individual that is crafty (or is a baker) would like to be a vendor, please contact Jennifer Benning Melgaard through Facebook.
• Bradford Pumpkin Show
Don’t forget the Bradford Pumpkin Show is sponsoring a Craft Show this year, Oct. 9-10. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, please get a hold of Marissa Wirrig or Katelyn Diehl. Spaces will cost $25 for 8×10, and $40 for 8×20, with electric costing an extra $10. A 25 percent non-refundable fee is required by Aug. 30, with remaining balance due at set-up. You can find a form online at the Bradford Ohio Community Facebook page. You can send forms and send them to Marissa Wirrig, 705 Stichter Ave., Bradford, OH 45308 or to Katelyn Diehl, 131 N. High St., Bradford, OH 45308.
Last but not least, make sure to vote this year for new village council members and school board members. I’ve heard lots of good and not-so-good things from around the community. The only way we can make positive changes is to all come together when meetings are held and to keep ourselves informed. Lots of frustration comes from no one attending these meetings. Believe it or not, decisions aren’t made over not. There is a process to everything that happens. If you don’t want to be blindsided by changes, you must do your part and educate yourself on what’s going on in our home town.
