DARKE COUNTY — The Versailles Area Museum is coordinating a road trip on Dec. 1 to Lima to tour the annual “Festival of Trees” a Christmas extravaganza of trees, hosted by the Allen County Museum.

“Along with the beautiful and unique trees, we will also visit this large, fantastic museum. From railroads (Lima was the center of building rail road engines) to a large Civil War collection. An impressive collection of pre glacier relics and fossils are also housed here. While visiting we will also go next door and tour the splendor of the McDonald Mansion, a true Victorian home decked out in holiday style,” said organizers.

The cost for both museum and home is $8.

Lunch will be downtown at the historic Kewpee. A Lima landmark since 1923, this chain gave Dave Thomas of Wendy’s fame his idea for a updated version of this little midwest chain.

The group will leave Versailles from the museum parking lot at 10 a.m. with lunch first and the museum tour at 1 p.m. The tour should be home by 5 p.m.

Call the VAM at 937-526-4222 to reserve a spot and/or volunteer to drive. This is the last trip for 2015.
