GREENVILLE — Optometrists Drs. Robert McLear and Krista Swensen will become affiliated with Family Health on April 1.
This decision, according to Family Health Executive Director Jean Young, was based on several factors.
“The operation of a small practice has required increasing amounts of time and effort to maintain the business aspects of health care due to federal regulations,” she said. “Joining a larger group decreases the burden of administrative costs (computer updates), allows an optometry practice to accept additional insurance plans and provides additional services for families with financial concerns.”
According to Young, the new practice will be “Family Health Eye Care.”
McLear and Swensen will stay in their present location and 937-548-6111 will still be their phone number.
Their office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p;.m. Monday through Friday and a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
“You will notice that your bill will come from Family Health Inc.,” said Young. “Families with financial concerns can apply for discounts for their vision care. Please inquire to take advantage of them. Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to your next appointment to update your personal information in our system.”
Young said any previous balances due to McLear and Swensen will now be billed by Family Health.
“It is our pleasure to announce that on April 1, we will be joining Family Health Services of Darke County Inc.,” said McLear and Swensen. “This partnership will help us continue being your personal optometrists but alleviate the many challenges of practicing quality eye care in today’s ever-changing world of our health care environment.”
According to the optometrists, there will not be any changes to their staff, and, like Young said, to their office phone number or location.
“We will continue to accept most insurance along with Medicaid and Medicare,” they said. “However, in the near future, after some major renovation, our office will be relocated to Family Health’s main campus located at 5735 Meeker Road, Greenville. We ask for your patience and support. Change is always hard. There may be more delays than usual for a few months as we become familiar with Family Health’s policies and business system. We look forward to continuing our relationship and caring for you vision needs. Thanks again for the wonderful support you have provided us over the years.”
“We are going to renovate our building to accommodate them [McLear and Swensen],” said Young. “It is going to be awhile.”
