County report card data released

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Education has released the first part of the 2014-15 state report card results, which show graduation rates, how well schools are helping struggling young readers and how well prepared graduates are for college.

The results for Darke County schools are as follows:

Greenville City

• K-3 Literacy Improvement (42.9 percent D)

– 44 kindergarten students were not on-track the previous year; 54.5 percent of those students improved to on-track in the first grade

-41 first-grade students were not on-track the previous year; 53.7 percent improved to on-track in second grade

-58 second-grade students were not on-track the previous year; 20.7 percent of those students improved to on-track in third grade

-69 third-grade students were not on-track in the 2014-15 school year; 49.3 percent of those students reached proficiency on the third-grade OAA (Ohio Achievement Assessment)

• Graduation rate (four-year 88.4 percent C; five-year 92.1 percent B)

Similar districts had a statewide average of 90.7 for the four-year rate and 92.8 percent for the five-year rate. The overall state average was 82.1 percent graduation in four years and 84.5 percent in five years.

-fewer than 10 first-grade students were not on-track the previous year

-fewer than 10 second-grade students were not on-track the previous year

-fewer than 10 third-grade students were not on-track the previous year

• Graduation rate (four-year 98.1 percent A; five-year 97.8 percent A)

Similar districts had a four-year graduation rate of 94.3 percent and a five-year graduation rate of 94.8 percent.

-16 third-grade students were not on-track in the 2014-15 school year; 62.5 percent of those students reached proficiency on the third-grade OAA (Ohio Achievement Assessment)
