MERCER COUNTY — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey and Darke County Sheriff Toby Spencer report that their offices, working cooperatively, have made three arrests involving multiple thefts in Mercer and Darke Counties.

Darke County Sheriff’s Detectives, along with officers from the Versailles Police Department, developed information involving multiple car and business break-ins in their jurisdictions in recent weeks. The information identified suspects from Mercer County.

Surveillance was conducted on the suspects and information led to the issuance of arrest warrants in Mercer County. The cases were developed in Darke County and are under review for additional charges there.

Arrested was Zachary Huff, 20, address at large. Huff was taken into custody at 616 West North Street, in Coldwater, Ohio. He has initially been charged with two counts of breaking and entering — both fifth degree felonies — and four first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft.

Also arrested was Justin Miller, 21, no address listed. Miller is charged with possession of heroin during the arrest of Huff.

An additional male, Mason Self, 21, address at large, was arrested at 3500 Wild Cherry Avenue, in Celina, Ohio. Self has initially been charged with two fifth-degree felony counts of breaking and entering and four first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft.

Additional charges are expected to be filed against Self and Huff. The three are scheduled to face arraignment March 31.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said this is an example of several agencies working together with a common goal. Without the information and cooperation of law enforcement, these arrests would not have been possible.
