GREENVILLE – The Greenville man responsible for a school lockdown March 17 was arraigned via video link in Darke County Common Pleas Court Thursday.

Kelly Patrick Miller, 42, of Greenville, is charged with two counts of kidnapping, a first- and a second-degree felony, for restraining the liberty of his estranged wife, Hannah J. Miller, as well as a 6-year-old girl; one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, while using a baseball bat as a weapon; and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, for assaulting his estranged wife with the bat.

According to a report issued by the Greenville Police Department, Miller broke into his wife’s residence on Central Avenue and waited for her to return. When she got home, Miller beat her with a baseball bat. He then held her against her will for several hours and also forced her to withdraw money from a bank for her. He then fled the scene, and she drove herself to Tri-Village Rescue for treatment of her injuries.

The incident caused a lockdown at nearby Greenville Junior High School lasting approximately an hour. As an added precaution, South Middle School and East Intermediate School also conducted internal lockdowns lasting about 15 minutes.

Miller has outstanding charges, as well as a criminal history, for such illegal activity as forgery, theft and passing bad checks.

Miller was assigned attorney David Rohrer for his defense. He faces a maximum of 38 years in prison and $70,000 in fined. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

In Darke County Common Pleas Court Monday, Eric Henson, 42, of Greenville, was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with 49 days credit for time served, and had his driver’s license suspended for six months after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

Also, Stephen A. Garner Jr., 35, of Ansonia, was arraigned on a felony-three domestic violence charge. He faces a maximum three years in prison and $10,000 fine. He was assigned attorney David A. Rohrer for his defense.

A $20,000 bond was set in the case, but he also is being held on $50,000 bond on earlier charges of forgery, theft, and breaking and entering.
