VERSAILLES — Local recording artist Tommy Renfro will release his newest single, “Miss You,” on May 3.
“Miss You”, written about his late father, is the first release off Renfro’s upcoming EP, When Mountains Shake. The record was produced and recorded by Grammy nominee, Dove Award winner, and Third Day keyboardist Scotty Wilbanks at the legendary Rockporium Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition, the final cut was mixed by two-time Grammy nominee Jon Kaplan in Los Angeles, California. Kaplan, who recently produced The Neon Steeple album for David Crowder, had the following to say about his work on the EP:
“Tommy’s music is heartfelt and impassioned. The songs remind me of what I loved about music growing up — both nostalgic and immediate. It was a pleasure to work on his When Mountains Shake EP.”
The final stop on the journey of “Miss You” was in Nashville, Tennessee, where it was mastered by five-time Grammy winner Richard Dodd.
“It was a neat experience to work with all of them,” Renfro said.
“Miss You” was named a semi-finalist in the Country music genre in the 2015 International Songwriting Competition.
The three-song album will be released in its entirety, including on compact disc, in August during the Great Darke County Fair in Greenville, where Renfro will be performing live.
Renfro believes his music will find appeal with both Country and Christian Contemporary fans.
“Listeners will find it both country and soulful,” he said. “The message of the music is faith and love.”
“We’re really trying to generate traction online with it,” he added.”
Renfro, a native of New Madison, moved to Versailles in December, hometown of his wife, Jordan. When not recording and performing, Renfro continues to teach science at Tri-Village High School in New Madison as well as teaching education at Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana.
“Miss You” will be available for purchase May 3 at a number of online music sources, including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Spotify.
