Six contestants vying for Miss Annie Oakley at festival

GREENVILLE — Six girls will be competing for Miss Annie Oakley in a shooting competition prior to this year’s festival at the end of the month.

Practice will take place at 6 p.m. July 26; preliminaries at 6 p.m. July 27; and the finals on July 28 at 6 p.m. at York Woods, north of Greenville off of U.S. 127 at Reed Road.

Competing this year will be:

• Hannah Bingham, 17-year-old daughter of Kim and Larry Bingham, sponsored by Chillz Yogurt. She will be a senior at Greenville Senior High.

• Lyla Carrington, sophomore at Greenville High School, and daughter of Amber DeRegnaucourt and Mike Carrington. Sponsor is Susan DeRegnaucourt.

• Kelsey Gilbert, sponsored by Greenville chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Nicole and Toby Gilbert of Greenville and is a senior.

• Morgan Hissong, 15-year-old daughter of Dave and Annie Hissong and a sophomore at Franklin Monroe High School. She is being sponsored by Greenville Farm Power of the Past.

• Katie Hurd, a junior at Greenville High School, sponsored by C.F. Poeppelman Inc. She is the 16-year-old daughter of Kris and Dean Hurd.

• Megan Elizabeth Troutwine, sophomore at Ansonia High School and daughter of Larry and Marlene Troutwine, Ansonia. Her sponsors are Ansonia Lumber and Ansonia Auto Parts.

The contest is open to Darke County women ages 14-19.

There is a costume contest on the night of the preliminaries with a prize going to the winning candidate.

Winners are selected solely on the basis of shooting ability.

Dennis Soward is in charge of the competition.
