Greenville woman fails to appear in court for drug sentencing

MIAMI COUNTY — A warrant was issued for a Greenville woman who failed to appear in Miami County Common Pleas Court to be sentenced for fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs on Monday.

Lora K. Coppock, 51, was found guilty of being in possession of MDMA, a form of ecstasy, in June. She was originally charged in April. A Tipp City officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Coppock was driving on Tuesday in the area of I-75 northbound at the 69 exit off-ramp in Tipp City. The officer reportedly saw a black garbage bag taped over the front passenger window. The officer then found that Coppock had two active warrants out of Miami County and a prior history of drug possession and drug trafficking.

Another officer conducted a K9 search of the vehicle, and according to court records, a glass pipe, a digital scale, and suspected drugs were found. The suspected drugs included possible marijuana, cocaine, and MDMA.

Coppock is also facing a charge of fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine. A summons for Coppock to appear in court was issued on Monday.

Charges of fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine, minor misdemeanor possession of marijuana, fourth-degree misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and OVI were filed against Coppock in September 2015. According to court records, Coppock was reportedly found to be operating a vehicle under the influence in the Speedway parking lot located on Scott Drive in Piqua.

Results from the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab reportedly confirmed that substances found in Coppock’s vehicle at that time were marijuana and cocaine. She also reportedly tested positive for having marijuana and cocaine in her system at the time of this incident. A pipe was also recovered from Coppock’s vehicle at the time of that incident.

Coppock was also facing a charge of first-degree misdemeanor stopping after an accident involving injury to persons or property, which was filed against filed against her in July 2015. According to court records, Coppock allegedly left the scene without exchanging information after backing into another car in the Speedway gas station parking lot on Covington Avenue in Piqua.

The charge was amended down to fourth-degree misdemeanor willful or wanton disreguard of safety of persons or property. Coppock was issued a sentence of suspended jail time and a fine of $250 in Miami County Municipal Court.

Former addresses list Coppock as being from Camden, Greenville, and Piqua at different times.
