DARKE COUNTY — The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is continuing an investigation into a serious accident Wednesday where a semi-truck traveled into a house.

On August 10, at approximately 3:45 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Liberty Township Fire, New Madison Fire, Hollansburg Fire and Tri Village Rescue were dispatched to 937 U.S. Route 36 West in reference to a semi tractor/trailer that drove through a residence. Upon arrival Fire crews called for additional resources from Greenville City Fire, Union City Fire, Arcanum Fire, Englewood Fire and CareFlight due to severe damage to the residence.

The preliminary investigation revealed a red 2015 Freightliner semi tractor/trailer driven by Thomas D. Traver, 57 of Coaldale, Pennsylvania was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 36 West when the tractor/trailer traveled off the right side of the roadway and into a residence. Traver was able to free himself from the vehicle and debris but his passenger, Teresa A. Gill, 39 of Hanover, Pennsylvania was trapped for approximately two hours while fire crews stabilized the structure before extraction.

Gill was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where she is listed in stable condition. Traver was treated and released from the scene. There were no occupants inside the residence at the time of the accident.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Division were also called to the scene for further investigation.
