Man causes head-on accident under the influence

BRADFORD —A Versailles man was arrested or OVI Saturday night after he caused a head-on collision.

On October 29 at approximately 11:14 p.m. Darke County deputies along with Bradford Fire, Bradford Rescue and CareFlight were dispatched to the 8300 block of State Route 185 in reference to the two -car accident.

The preliminary investigation revealed a blue 2008 Ford F-250 driven by Nevin T. Benedict, 38, of Versailles was traveling northbound on State Route 185 when he traveled off the right side of the roadway striking multiple mailboxes. Benedict over corrected traveling across the roadway striking a white 2002 Chevy Avalanche driven by Terry J. Meade, 42, of Bradford. Both vehicles collided head on causing severe damage.

Benedict was treated and released at the scene by Bradford Rescue. Meade was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where he is listed in stable condition.

Benedict was arrested at the scene for OVI and transported to the Darke County Criminal Justice Center.
