Local firefighters give back

GREENVILLE — The cold weather was shrugged off by Greenville Firefighters Local 1101, November 25, as they collected money for area foster children.

“We see the necessity to give back to the community,” Firefighter Levi Robbins said.

Since the first boot drive, in 1997, more than $40,000 has been raised helping about 1,000 children, according to Robbins.

“This year more than 30 foster children are being served,” he said.

The donations collected will go to Darke County Children Services to provide school supplies, Christmas gifts and a Christmas party for the children.
