GREENVILLE — Ivory Sue Scott was born to Jennifer (Quiarte) and Michael Scott of Greenville on Monday at Wayne HealthCare, making her the first baby for the medical facility in 2017.

The infant was born at 4:06 a.m. Jan. 2, weighing in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 20 1/2 inches long at birth. Dr. Thomas Brown, the baby’s doctor, delivered her.

“I named her after my mother whose middle name is Sue, and Michael and I liked the name Ivory,” Jennifer said.

The new mother said there were no problems in the delivery.

“I was lying in bed playing solitaire on my phone when labor started,” she said. “We came to the hospital at 12:32 a.m. and I probably went into labor an hour before that.”

“Her water broke around 3:15 a.m.,” Michael offered.

The couple are the parents of a son, Oliver, who is nearly 1 1/2.

“I would have liked to have had another boy, because I would had things for him, but I really didn’t care what I had,” Jennifer said as she looked down at her tiny daughter resting in her arms.

Maternal grandparents are Tina and Ramiro Quiarte of New Weston and paternal grandparents are Windy DiMarco and Michael Scott, both of New York.

The Scotts have been married 2 1/2 years. They met online when he was working in Columbus.

She works at Tangles in Greenville and he is a Kelly Services recruiter, working with the staff for Whirlpool.

Ivory received some gifts for being the first baby of the year.
