NEW MADISON — Darke County Prosecuting Attorney R. Kelly Ormsby, III said he would not be filing any criminal charges against the students on the Tri-Village Basketball Team that were recently involved in the hazing incidents against other students.

“After review of a lengthy report prepared by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and discussions with officers, alleged victims, their family members and others, I have determined that it is not in the interest of justice to file any charges,” Ormsby wrote in a release.

Ormsby said that he arrived at the decision after considering disciplinary actions already taken by school authorities as well as the wishes of the alleged victims.

“The State does not intend to make further comment upon this decision as it is not normally discussed at all in a public forum, in order to protect the privacy of the juveniles, whether they be suspects or alleged victims,” said Ormsby.
