UNION CITY, Ohio — Officers from the Union City, Ohio, Police Department were dispatched on Thursday to Knollwood Commons Apartment complex in reference to a man that broke into an apartment and assaulted a woman.

Upon arrival of officers, it was found that a male subject slipped the lock of the apartment and went inside and assaulted a woman and demanded that she give him money. The man was attempting to disguise himself with a mask, however, he was still identified by the woman as Jordan Jenkinson, age 24, of Union City, Ohio.

During the altercation, Jenkinson took the woman’s phone so she couldn’t call for help and as he left the apartment he told her that she needed to stay inside the apartment or she would be hurt. Jenkinson then threw her cell phone in a yard about a block from the apartment complex.

Jenkinson was arrested on Friday.

“He has been preliminarily charged with aggravated burglary, a felony of the first degree,” said Police Chief Mark Ater. “He was also charged with a misdemeanor theft that occurred on Jan. 13 in Union City, Ohio. Jenkinson was also wanted for failure to appear in the Darke County Municipal Court.”

He is currently being held at the Darke County Jail without bond, awaiting arraignment.
