Rain doesn’t stop Arcanum Old Fashioned Days festivities

ARCANUM — The threat of rain didn’t stop people from enjoying the festivities at 2017 Old Fashioned Days, held in Arcanum May 19 to 21.

Music, food, rides, games, cars, tractors and even events featuring animals were available for the enjoyment of eventgoers at this year’s festival.

The DockDogs competition pitted canines in feats of long jumping and speed retrieval. As well, a Jungle Island Petting Zoo and pony rides were on hand for youngsters.

Sprinkles of rain didn’t stop the Old Fashioned Days parade on its travel down North Main Street, which featured a little bit of everything from horse-drawn carriages to little leaguers, and fire trucks to beauty queens. Jack Bechtol of Bechtol Plumbing & Heating served as this year’s parade grand marshal.

A tractor show returned to this year’s festival and the festival hosted its annual cruise-in with classic and antique cars.

Saturday morning saw a community pancake breakfast sponsored by the Arcanum Fire Company, with the Lion’s Club hosting a chicken barbeque lunch.

Karaoke, a kiddie tractor pull, vendors and crafts were also enjoyed by eventgoers.

Arcanum Old Fashioned Days is proudly sponsored by the Arcanum Area Business Association. Information about Old Fashioned Days and other events in and around Arcanum can be found on the “Arcanum Area Community Events” Facebook page.
