ARCANUM — During a special council meeting conducted May 17, the Arcanum Village Council selected a replacement to fill a seat being vacated by one of its members.
In a closed executive session, council members reviewed applications submitted by three people. Of the candidates, the council unanimously voted to select Gregory T. Baumle to fill the role.
He replaces former councilwoman Julie Willis, who announced her resignation from council in April.
Baumle, a nine-year resident of Arcanum with his wife and children, is employed as a battalion chief with the Huber Heights Fire Department. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Wright State University.
Baumle will fill the remainder of Willis’ four-year term, which ends in December. He will be eligible to run for election in his own right in this year’s November general election if he so chooses.
Others who applied for the opportunity to fill the seat were Micah Brown and Tim Philpot.
Baumle will be sworn in to council by Arcanum Mayor Judy Foureman at council’s next meeting scheduled for May 30.
