Ansonia Class of ‘17 sees 48 collect diplomas

ANSONIA — The Ansonia School District held its 130th annual commencement exercises Sunday afternoon at Ansonia High School. The event saw 48 students receive diplomas.

Principal Stephen A. Garman welcomed students, parents, faculty and alumni, telling the Class of 2017, “There are many surprises awaiting you. Enjoy the book. After all, you’re the one writing it.”

This year’s valedictorian was Katelyn Warner, with Sarah Murphy as class salutatorian. Each gave an address to their fellow classmates, as did Class President Jailyn Thwaits.

The Class of 2017’s motto was “Take the world as you find it, but leave it a better place.” The Orange Alstroemeria was the class flower.
