ARCANUM — Arcanum-Butler School District has found a a qualified treasurer in Brenda Hale, according to Superintendent John Stephens.

Hale will replace treasurer Matt Huffman for the 2017-18 school year. She was appointed at the July 12 Arcanum-Butler school board meeting. Huffman served as district treasurer since January 2008. He recently accepted a position as Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer, for the Miami Valley Career Technology Center. According to Stephens, Hale was the Arcanum High School secretary at the same time Stephens was the Arcanum Elementary School Principal.

“I was always impressed with the way she positively communicated with parents and students that came in,” Stephens said. “She is a very effective communicator, great to work with and efficient. I am thankful the board understands the importance of the treasurer/superintendent dynamic, and allowed me to sit in through the interview process. I wanted us to be comfortable, and Brenda and I having that previous relationship makes for a great transition. We are sorry to see Matt go, but glad to see it is Brenda coming in.”

Hale had worked for the Arcanum-Butler School District 13 years, serving as high school secretary before leaving to serve the Versailles Exempted Village School District for the past two years, as an accounting assistant, while pursuing her treasurer’s license. Hale has previous work experience as a payroll technician and assistant branch manager for Star Bank. She received her Associate’s of Applied Business, from Edison State Community College and her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting, from Indiana Wesleyan University, and recently completed school law and finance classes through the University of Phoenix. Hale resides in Versailles with her husband Rodd. Their son Clint and daughter Kylee are Arcanum High School graduates.

Hale said she is appreciative of the opportunity and excited to return to the Arcanum-Butler School District, where she has spent many years as an employee.

“I am looking forward to working with friends and former colleagues, and feel extremely fortunate the board of education has given me this opportunity to serve the district and community,” she said.
