Accidents

-Donald W. Schmitz, 48, of New Weston, was cited for an assured clear distance ahead violation following a three-vehicle collision Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 3:55 p.m.

According to the crash report, Carol L. Schaffer, 44, of Rossburg, was stopped in traffic in the 12600 block of State Route 49 when struck from behind by Schmitz. Schaffer’s vehicle was knocked into another vehicle, driven by Crystal R. Siegrist, 40, of Union City, Ohio.

A passenger in the Schaffer vehicle, Michael A. Schaffer, 46, of Rossburg, was transported for possible injuries by Union City Rescue to Wayne HealthCare.

The Schmitz and Seigrist vehicles sustained minor damage, and the Schaffer vehicle sustained disabling damage.

-Alexander D. Berry, 25, of Versailles, was transported for possible injuries by Bradford Rescue to Upper Valley Hospital after his vehicle overturned Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7:11 a.m.

Berry reportedly was travelling east on State Route 185 west of Zerber Road when he went off the right side of the road on a curve, striking a ditch, and the car overturned.

The vehicle had disabling damage.

-A New Madison teen was sent to the hospital as a result of a three-vehicle collision Saturday, Sept. 5, at 9:59 a.m.

Clinton H. Garber, 30, of Greenville, was westbound on U.S. 36 and pulled into the intersection at State Route 121 into the path of the southbound car, driven by Taylor Rian June Dorn, 19, of New Madison. The Garber vehicle spun in the intersection and struck another vehicle stopped eastbound at the stop sign, driven by Diane E. Brown, 51, of New Madison.

Dorn was transported for non-incapacitating injuries by Tri-Village Rescue to Wayne HealthCare. Garber was cited for failure to yield.

The Garber vehicle had functional damage. The Dorn vehicle had disabling damage. The Brown vehicle had minor damage.
