GREENVILLE — A Greenville man avoided a bench trial by entering a guilty plea Tuesday in Darke County Common Pleas Court.

Jason M. Sheeders, 43, pleaded guilty to one fourth-degree felony count of domestic violence. He was arrested by Greenville Police July 6 for slapping his domestic partner. Sheeders has a prior domestic violence conviction in Hamilton County, Ohio, dating back to 2002.

Sheeders is currently free on his own recognizance, with his sentencing hearing scheduled for February 5, 2018.

Zachary A. Geiger, 43, of Wayne Lakes, also appeared in court for a change of plea.

Geiger was charged with failure to notify authorities of a change in phone number, a felony of the fourth degree. He is on community control for a prior drug trafficking conviction.

Following Geiger’s guilty plea, Common Pleas Court Judge Jonathan P. Hein sentenced him to continued community control sanctions, 21 days in jail credited, court costs, 100 hours of community service, and restitution of $350. If Geiger fails to comply, he could be sentenced to up to a year in prison.

Jason E. Norris, 46, of Fairborn, Ohio, appeared in court via video teleconference from the Darke County Jail to be arraigned on a fifth-degree felony count of theft. He was ordered released on his own recognizance. His next court date is scheduled for January 26, 2018.

Dwayne M. Morgan, 30, of Greenville was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with three days credited, on a fourth-degree felony count of theft of drugs. His community control sanctions were also continued. He also faces an aggravated menacing charge, a first-degree misdemeanor, in Municipal Court.
