WEST CHESTER, Ohio – A southwest Ohio auditor is joining the race for the U.S. House seat being vacated by Speaker John Boehner (BAY’-nur).

Butler County Auditor Roger Reynolds scheduled a Wednesday announcement in West Chester Township. The Republican has been the county’s auditor since 2008, winning re-election in 2014 with more than 71 percent of the vote.

Second-term Republican state Sen. Bill Beagle of Tipp City joined the 8th District race last week. Troy teacher J.D. Winteregg also is running after a 2014 primary challenge to Boehner, who is stepping down Oct. 30 from the speakership and the congressional seat he first won in 1990.

A large field is expected in the Republican-dominated district. Special election dates haven’t been set.
