Winchester woman dies in 3-car crash

RANDOLPH COUNTY – A Winchester woman died of her injuries Wednesday after she was involved in a three-car crash on State Route 32.

At approxiametely 8:15 p.m. Randolph County Communications received a 911 call of a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of 500 West and State Route 32.

The preliminary investigation and witness statements showed that Luetta L, Ragsdale, 79, of Winchester, driving a 2001 Nissan was southbound on 500 West and ran the stop sign at the intersection of State Route 32.

The vehicle then collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Andrew Garland, 45, of Winchester, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Spark. When that collision occurred it caused the Garland vehicle to go out of control and come to rest in the ditch on the southside of State Route 32. The Ragsdale vehicle was then facing west in the eastbound lane and was struck by an eastbound vehicle head- on driven by Ryan Collins, 36, of Winchester, driving a 2012 Chrysler 200.

Collins and his 8-year-old son were taken to St. Vincent- Randolph hospital and were treated and released. Garland was also taken to St. Vincent- Randolph Hospital and was treated and released. Ragsdale was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital. The extent of her injuries was not known at the time of press release.

Luetta Jean Hunt, 60, of Winchester, the passenger in the Ragsdale vehicle, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She later died of her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriffs Dept. and the Indiana State Police.
