GREENVILLE – Earlier this year, Rev. John Person announced his retirement as of the end of November 2018.

Person has served as head pastor at First Presbyterian Church for the last 22 years and has worn many hats over the years. Some of the church ministries that he has been involved in include Stephen Ministry, tutoring, youth group, Confirmation, Choir, praise team, session, deacons, mission trips, community outreach and boards, First Fridays, Logos, numerous Bible and congregational studies and so many other places of service.

In honor and recognition of his years in ministry and leadership, First Presbyterian Church is planning a special Sunday service followed by a celebration luncheon on Nov. 18. It is the church’s hope that many friends of Person and First Presbyterian Church will attend this special event.

As always, the worship service is open to everyone and begins at 10 a.m. However, reservations for the catered meal are required and must be made on or before Nov. 12. To make reservations, contact Angie in the First Presbyterian Church office at 937-548-3188.

Church members also encourage everyone to write a personal note or card to Person and his wife, Nancy, to be given to them at the celebration luncheon on Nov. 18. Those who are not able to bring a card or note that day may drop it off in the church office at 114 E 4th St., Greenville. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4 p.m.
