Traffic stop leads to arrest

DARKE COUNTY – A man from Troy was arrested on a charge of possessing drugs following a traffic stop on Monday.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 5700 block of State Route 571 for a traffic violation. Officers also had received information in reference to the vehicle being involved in narcotics trafficking.

A K9 until from the Union City Police Department responded to the scene to assist. The K9 indicated the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Upon search of the vehicle, numerous types of suspected narcotics and paraphernalia were located inside of the vehicle.

Matthew Welty, 33, of Troy, was arrested and incarcerated at the Darke County Jail. Welty was charged with possession of drugs, a felony of the second degree. Further charges are pending.
