GREENVILLE TWP — For the upcoming election on November 3, three candidates are vying for one open position on the Greenville Township Board of Trustees: Jeremy Edger, Matthew Kolb and Geoff Surber. The following is a brief profile of each candidate.

Jeremy Edger

A lifelong resident of Greenville, Edger is a 1997 graduate of Greenville High School and graduated from Ohio State University in 2001. He is the son of Steve and Teresa Edger.

Edger has been Location Manager for Remington Seeds in Greenville for the past six years. He and his wife, Kristi, have two children.

He serves on the Parish Pastoral Council at his church, is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Wild Turkey Federation, and is a hunter education instructor for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Edger remarked, “I just want the opportunity to serve this community and keep it a beacon for other communities to look up to for generations to come.

“The township runs a pretty tight ship as it is now. I just want to make sure that level of tax dollar stewardship maintains. The township operates with the funds from the people of this community and I want to make sure those funds are not needlessly squandered,” he said.

Matthew Kolb

Matt Kolb was born and raised on a farm three miles southwest of Greenville, the son of Steve and Ann Kolb. He currently resides in Greenville with his wife, Angie, and two sons.

He graduated from Greenville High School in 1995 and attended the University of Cincinnati and Edison State Community College.

Kolb serves on the Board of Directors for the Darke County Community Improvement Corporation, and the Board of Directors for Treaty Manor. In the past, he has been a member of Greenville Kiwanis and sat on the City of Greenville Park Board.

He is currently employed by Greenville National Bank, with more than a decade of banking and sales experience.

Kolb told The Daily Advocate, “I am running for Greenville Township Trustee because I want to ensure that the community remains safe and secure with strong emergency services. I want to ensure that the roads, ditches and cemeteries of the township continue to be well maintained. I also want to help foster healthy, continued economic growth for the region.”

Geoff Surber

Surber was born in Greenville, the son of Jim and Carla Surber. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1999 and from Wright State University in 2004 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Post graduation, Surber started a computer repair and sales business, GPS Computer Services, located in Greenville. He and his wife, Jessie, have two sons.

Regarding his candidacy, Surber said, “I am running for Greenville Township Trustee because I am fully invested locally in the Greenville area and have a keen interest in its improvement and progression. I have attended trustee meetings and have learned much about the operation of the township with respect to its roads, cemeteries and emergency services.”

Surber added, “As township trustee I will bring my experience and ability to public service. I will be fair and responsive with a business management perspective.”

Surber can be contacted by email at [email protected].
