April events scheduled at Bradford Public Library

BRADFORD – The calendar at Bradford Public Library fills up as the days grow longer and temperatures rise.

No STEAM workshop will be held until September. Patrons are invited to join the library later this month at its summer reading kickoff.

A new session of Story Hour will begin April 16. Story Hour is open for any child age 3 to those not yet in kindergarten. Registration is required. A sign-up sheet now is available in the library. Patrons can join for stories, songs, crafts, games and activities all geared to help your young ones be prepared for kindergarten. This six-week session will be about oceans and things under the sea.

Hannah Pennigton will return at 6:30 p.m. April 18 with an essential oils make and take to get guests ready for summer. Participants will make an after sun spray, bug off spray, boo boo spray and a bug bite roller … all in glass bottles. The cost of workshop is $25, and the class size limited to 12. Registration is required and payment will hold a spot.

Bradford Public Library will be closed April 20 and April 22 so staff can celebrate Easter with family and friends.

Bradford Public Library’s annual book sale and fine free week will be held April 23 through April 26. The library has plenty of books in all genres to choose from this year. In addition to books, Bradford Public Library has music CDs and even some holiday decorations and props from past programs. April 26 will be $1 a bag day. Anything that will fit in a brown grocery bag will cost $1. Proceeds from the book sale will benefit library programs throughout the year.

Bradford Public Library will have its fine free week the same week. Bradford cardholders can have overdue fines waived as well as fees for one lost item waived. Patrons must come in to the library to take advantage of this opportunity to wipe the slate clean.

Bradford Public Library and Bradford Schools will join forces again to offer a summer reading kickoff event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 25 at Bradford Schools. Food, games, activities and crafts will be offered all for free. This event is open for any elementary student in the community, including those in the homeschool community and students from other school districts. Registration will be required to attend. Students of Bradford Schools will have registration information sent home with them. Students not attending Bradford Schools can pick up registration information at the library after April 16.

The Good Grub Club has two cooking classes scheduled for April 27, one from 10-11:20 a.m. and the other from 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. There is a limit of two children from the same household. Sign-ups are required with no exceptions. There is a limit of 12 students per class. Sign-up sheets are available now at the library. This month participants will learn some quick and easy lunches. The Good Grub Club classes are free and open to any student age 9-13. Patrons can call or stop in to sign up.

Plans are being made for Bradford Public Library’s annual plant and seed swap from 10 a.m.-noon May 4.
