Ministers Networking Group Meeting upcoming

DAYTON — On Thursday, Nov. 19, the Greater Dayton Area Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministers Network will hold its quarterly meeting from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Hospice of Dayton Community Room, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton 45420.

The continuing education presentation “Trauma Informed Care” will be led by Shelly Kolp, MSN, RN-BC, Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center. She will identify the effects of emotional trauma on a human being and describe trauma-informed interventions that will help to keep patients from re-traumatization.

This session will address the very high prevalence of trauma in the population we engage, serve, and/or supervise as well as use the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study to help explain the symptoms and behaviors we see every day. With a better collective understanding of trauma, more people will find their path to healing and wellness. And with a greater public commitment to trauma-informed programs and systems for survivors, we lessen and prevent a wide range of health, behavioral health and social problems for generations to come.

Pre-registration is required. For more information please contact the Good Samaritan Hospital Health Ministries Program, at 937-227-9454
