Versailles Health Care veterans honored at ceremony

VERSAILLES — A group of Versailles area veterans visited the Versailles Health Care Center Wednesday morning and spoke with them and giving them gifts in honor of Veterans Day.

The Versailles veterans included Tim Wagner, Dave Miller, Dewey Ward, Bob Magoteaux, Jeremiah Johnson, Tom Hole, Jerry Bey Jr., Richard Coffield and Ron Mescher. They honored the facility’s veterans by presenting a program and giving them gifts, including pins, hats and miniature flags.

Mescher ended the program with “Taps.”

The Versailles Health Care Center veterans introduced themselves and told what branch they served in during their military days.

Those representing the Army are George Rhoades, Billy Taylor, John Pepiot, Basil Davis, Linus Monnin, Cyril Voisard, Frank Bulcher, Earl Morris, Dave Magoto, Gerald Campbell, Alden Hittle and Wayne Hensler. Resident John Agne is a member of the Air Force; while Donald Plessinger, Melvin Ristau and Omar Brandewie served with the U.S. Navy; and James Simmons was with the Marine Corps.

The home veterans were presented framed certificates.
