BPL plans October events

BRADFORD – Autumn is the perfect time to “Fall” in Love with your local library. Here is what is planned for October at the Bradford Public Library.

Fit & Fab will continue through October. Join them on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. or Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. for a brisk Leslie Sansone Walking workout. No special equipment needed, just a pair of walking shoes, water bottle and a fitness band if you have one. The class will change the type of exercise in November. Please park in the parking lot and enter at west door.

Oct. 3 from 3:30-5:30 p.m., Darke County Health department will be conducting a Flu Shot Clinic. Anyone age six months and up is eligible for the shot. Bring your insurance cards; health department personnel will help you file your insurance claim. A fee of $30 will be charged for those with no insurance, payable to the Darke County Health Department. No registration is needed; shots will be given on a first come, first served basis.

STEAM for Homeschoolers will meet on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. This workshop is suitable for students in grades 1-8. Call Stacie for more information on these hands on learning opportunities.

Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m., Hannah Pennington will be hosting an essential oils class. Participants will be making elderberry syrup and an immunity roller just in time for the cold and flu season. Cost of the workshop is $20. Come in to sign up, class is limited to 12 participants and registration is required by Oct. 14.

Bradford Public Library’s Harvest Party will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. “A Pumpkin Carnival” will be for students in grades K-5 and will include lots of carnival games, prizes and pumpkin painting. Students may dress up in their best harvest attire. Please sign up by Oct. 18 so they can plan.

Good Grub Club will meet on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m.-noon. Their free cooking class is for students age 9-13. This month students will be baking and decorating cupcakes and making a special apple treat. Registration is required by Oct. 17 and is limited to 12 students; no exceptions. Sign-ups will be available Oct. 7.

Prepare to be scared as Bob Daugherty presents Spook-tacular Stories on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 7-8:15 p.m. Bob is a gifted storyteller and enjoys sharing the tales that will keep you up at night. This hair-raising event is recommended for students grades six to adults. They will have a movie and snacks for their younger audience. Registration is not required and snacks will be served. Join them and bring a friend.

Bradford Public Library reminds patrons that they will be closing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Thursday, Oct. 10 and will be closed on Oct. 11 and 12 for the Pumpkin Show.
