ANSONIA — One again, the Ansonia community was not disappointed in the turnout for the Breakfast With Santa, held Saturday morning at the Ansonia American Legion.
Betty Burnfield, who has organized this event for the sixth year of its 19-year tradition, said the event usually attracts between 150 and 200 children, who get to visit with Santa after his arrival, thanks to a local firetruck. Youngsters also took home some candy bags filled with coupons and gifts.
“The fire department and rescue squad help,” said Burnfield. “The police chief fixes the eggs and the mayor cooks the sausage.”
Also served were pancakes, juice and coffee.
Parents, grandparents, older siblings were in attendance as well.
Burnfield also reported there were tons of gifts to give away this year.
“What’s left, we put in a tote and save it for next year,” she said.
Music was provided by Troy Kammer.
The breakfast is always open to everyone with a donation appreciated.
