GREENVILLE — Scotty J. Reineke, 37, of Bradford, appeared in Darke County Common Pleas Court on Monday via video uplink from the Lorain Correctional Institute, where he is currently incarcerated for violating his post-release control when he was previously released from prison.

Reineke was sentenced to three years incarceration with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction for failing to register his address after previously being convicted on sexual-related charges. In June of 2015, Reineke was convicted on numerous counts of disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile and pandering obscenity involving a minor. From this, he was sentenced to almost four and a half years in prison.

After approximately two years in prison, Reineke was granted judicial release. During his five year post-release period, Reineke was ordered not to use cell phones, social media, or the internet. He was found in violation of this order in 2018 when he used the internet to exchange sexually explicit dialogue and images with at least two girls under the age of 15, and was sentenced to 15 additional months in prison. His previous criminal record includes convictions for raping a mentally disabled male, and gross sexual imposition involving a pre-teenage girl.

Recently, Reineke was release from prison, and was soon after found in violation of his post release control. During his time out, from August to September of 2020, he failed to notify the local probation staff of a change of address, resulting in two second-degree felony charges. On Monday, Reineke’s attorney and the prosecutor’s office reached a plea agreement in which Reineke pleaded guilty to one count of failing to notify a change of address, and the second count was dismissed. As a part of the agreement, Reineke was ordered to serve three years in prison, with the possibility of an additional 18 month tail depending on his behavior in prison. This sentence will be served concurrently with his post release control violation sentence.

The prosecutor’s office included a promise in the agreement to not seek further charges against Reineke as long as he doesn’t file for judicial release and serves the full three year term. Reineke will remain at the Lorain Correctional Institute for the remainder of his sentence.
