DARKE COUNTY – The Show Hoppers 4-H Club of Darke County will be hosting a food booth fundraiser during the Great Darke County Fair, Aug. 21-29.

The booth will be located by the Rabbit Barn with a menu includes hamburgers, hotdogs, corndogs, barbeque pork and nachos with cheese.

“Not only will we be offering food to our customers at a low price, but the chance to win a KitchenAid blender, Indianapolis Colts jersey and a yard globe. There will also be a daily silent auction on numerous items. Come check us out!,” said organizers.

Show Hoppers 4-H Club started in the spring of 2014 and currently have 18 inspiring members with advisors, Patricia Carroll and Amanda Behee, who both have many years of experience raising and showing rabbits as well as plenty of involvement in 4H over the years.

Meetings are held in Greenville.

“We generally try to have two meetings per month and many of our meetings involve working with their rabbits in a “hands-on” manner,” said Behee. “Our current members come from area school districts. In order to be a part of our club, the child’s main project must be a rabbit. Some of our kids do take other secondary projects and some are also members of other area 4H clubs with projects other than rabbits in those clubs.”

The goal is to help our 4H kids learn as much as possible about their projects and compete well in Showmanship, Skill-A-Thon and the rabbit shows at fair each year, said Behee.

“Some of our kids also like to show their rabbits at local and even national rabbit shows. So having good instructional aides and resources is key to their success. We hope you will come out and help support our kids!,” she said.

Proceeds from the food booth will support the efforts of purchasing educational material items for the 4-H club.

“Many thanks to the donors that have made the food booth possible!”
