Beginning Farmer East Regional Workshop offered

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — If you are a new farmer or just considering the idea, you are invited to register for the Beginning Farmer East Regional Workshop.

The event is 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Randolph County Fairgrounds, 1885 U.S. Route 27, Winchester, Indiana.

“We offer beginning farmers a whole gamut of assistance to succeed, beginning with their county extension educator and providing programs such as this day-long workshop which offers networking, information, resources and community,” said Tamara Benjamin, assistant program leader, Diversified Farming and Food Systems, Purdue Cooperative Extension.

“Workshop topics are selected from questions asked by farmers in the region. It’s hands-on learning with a network approach,” Benjamin said.

Attendees for this workshop can learn about: Business planning, Pasture management, Fruit and vegetable pest management, Pastured poultry, Greenhouse and high tunnel management and Marketing products.

Purdue Extension experts will be available to discuss and answer questions. The cost is $10 and lunch will be provided.
