Top CDEs recognized by chapter

VERSAILLES – The Versailles FFA held its annual Career Development Event (CDE) luncheon on May 21 in the ag shop. At the luncheon, the Versailles FFA recognized all CDE participants for the year and top participants from each grade level.

The senior class winner was Jacob Wuebker who participated in six CDEs, which included Ag Sales, Job Interview, Agronomy, Rural Soil Judging, Ag & Industrial Diagnostics and Farm Business Management.

The junior class winners were Caden Buschur who participated in Dairy Judging, Public Speaking and Parliamentary Procedure; Isaac Gilmore and Sam Gilmore who each competed in three CDEs which included Outdoor Power, Ag & Industrial Diagnostics and Ag Mechanic Skills.

The sophomore class winner Alex Kaiser competed in four CDEs which included Wildlife, Rural Soil Judging, Environmental/Natural Resources and Nursery/Landscape.

The freshman class winner Caleb Kaiser competed in four CDEs which included Wildlife, Rural Soil Judging, Environmental/Natural Resources and Nursery/Landscape.

In the 8th grade class, there was a four-way tie between Eli Grillot, Gabe Marchal, Luke Winner, and Kylee Hainline who all did two CDEs, which included parliamentary procedure and wildlife for Gabe, Eli and Kylee did parliamentary procedure and general livestock for Luke.

This year the Versailles FFA received five banners and the top four team members were recognized at the luncheon. Wildlife placed third with Alex and Caleb Kaiser, Jayden Groff, and Evan Keller. General Livestock placed third with Ian Gehret, Kobe Epperly, Emma Peters, and Troy May. Dairy Judging placed fourth with Clay Bergman, Renea and Shelbie Schmitmeyer, and Garret Toops. Dairy Goods placed fourth with Trent Langenkamp, Dylan Meyer, Anna Barlage, and Laura Wuebker. Environmental and Natural Resources placed third with Alex and Caleb Kaiser, Jayden Groff, and Evan Keller. The Junior High Wildlife team placed first and earned a plaque. Members were Kristopher Marshal, Kaylee Hayline, Gabe Marshal, and Austin Spradlin.

Versailles FFA thanks to Amy Hoying and Sharon Pepiot for administering their CDE tests throughout the year and serving as the protector of the state online test. Mrs. Hoying and Mrs. Pepiot were given flowers and gift certificates and the top winners were given certificates and cash prizes. Versailles FFA thanked all the individuals that help coach teams and sponsor sites for practices that allow the Versailles FFA to be so successful in CDE.
