Hanes named Edison VP

PIQUA — Edison State Community College has named Rick Hanes as vice president of business and community partnerships.

In her announcement to the college community, Edison State President Dr. Doreen Larson said, “Throughout the search process, Mr. Hanes demonstrated an extraordinary level of research and innovation that will serve Edison State well. Mr. Hanes has the regional connections, personal history and high level of energy needed to make our goals of community outreach successful.”

Hanes most recently served as superintendent of Piqua City Schools, a position he held since 2007. Hanes previously was the assistant superintendent of Tipp City Exempted Village School District, principal at Smith Middle School in the Vandalia-Butler City District and principal of Arcanum Elementary School in the Arcanum-Butler Local School District.

In addition to holding administrative roles, Hanes actively engages in community leadership through Rotary International, Miami County 4-H, Children’s International Summer Village, Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce and the Piqua Education Foundation.

Hanes earned a Bachelor of Science in education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wright State University. Additionally, Hanes is on track to successfully complete a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Miami University.
