GREENVILLE — Edison State Community College will be offering the first of many Workforce Development seminars planned for the future. Titled “Hands-On Communication in the Workplace,” the initial offering is a two-part seminar scheduled for Nov. 10 and 17 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Edison’s Darke County Campus (DCC) in Greenville.

The seminar will focus on personal interaction, group leadership, critical thinking and problem solving to aid the supervisors of today and tomorrow. Using both verbal and nonverbal techniques, the seminar provides an interactive, hands-on approach to learning successful communication skills necessary for effective leadership.

“Communication skills in the workplace are critical to the success of a company,” said Edison DCC Dean Chad Beanblossom. “Understanding how to communicate with coworkers, supervisors, clients and the public can increase productivity and create a positive working environment.”

Offering both credit courses and workforce training opportunities, the Edison Darke County Campus is committed to increasing educational opportunities in the region.

“Edison’s Darke County Campus is growing and gaining support from surrounding communities,” added Beanblossom. “As this continues, we expect to increase our course offerings, develop additional workforce training opportunities, and establish degree programs specific to the needs of the communities we serve.”

The cost to participate in “Hands-On Communication in the Workplace” is $129. Registration is requested by Nov. 3. To register, contact Beanblossom at 937-778-7891 or email [email protected].
