Walker sentenced; Perreira changes plea

GREENVILLE — A Greenville man was sentenced Monday in Darke County Common Pleas Court for aggravated vehicular assault.

Jacob A. Walker, of Greenville, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated vehicular assault, a third-degree felony, and reckless operation, a minor misdemeanor. His original indictment charged him with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, criminal endangering and reckless operation, based on an investigation by the Arcanum Police Department.

Walker was sentenced to five days in jail with five days credit for time served, 60 months of community service, $750 fine, 100 hours community service. He was ordered to pay restitution up to $650. In addition, his driver’s license was suspended for two years, with limited privileges allowed, and he got four points on his license.

In other court business, Shane J. Perreira, 31, of Greenville, entered a change of plea Monday, withdrawing his previous not guilty plea and entering a plea of guilty to two counts of breaking and entering, fifth-degree felonies.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison and $2,500 in fines on each count.

Perreira originally was charged with two counts of breaking and entering as well as one count of disrupting a public service, a fourth-degree felony, for cutting the power lines at 1725 Wagner Ave. on April 21, 2013.
