Dec. 18

-8:56 a.m.: OVI. Shawn Smith was cited for operating a vehicle impaired and failing to obey a lawful order of a police officer.

-9:13 a.m.: theft. A Greenville resident reported a debit card stolen from his residence. It was reportedly used four times before the account could be closed.

-9:20 a.m.: warrant. Rickey Elson was arrested on a warrant out of Darke County Municipal Court for failure to comply on an operating a vehicle impaired charge. He was taken to Darke County Jail to serve three days.

-5:22 p.m.: vandalism. A patron reportedly kicked a bowling monitor at Treaty Lanes, causing it to smoke, short out and stop working. The cost of repairs was estimated at $1,500. The location of the suspect was not immediately known.

Dec. 19

-10:13 p.m.: vandalism. A resident in the 100 block of Bellevernon Avenue reported a back door window shattered sometime between 5 and 10:10 p.m., possibly by a BB gun.

Dec. 20

-12:52 p.m.: shoplifting. Kroger employees reported two males left the store with a shopping cart full of Tide detergent and another filled with cases of alcohol without paying for the items. They were seen leaving the scene in a black Pontiac Bonneville.

Dec. 21

-8 a.m.: vehicle theft. A 1985 Yamaha scooter was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Markwith Avenue.

-9:34 a.m.: burglary. A residence in the 400 block of Warren Street was reported burglarized.

-12:17 p.m.: criminal damaging. Two juveniles were cited for criminal damaging after reportedly causing damage to windows in the 100 block of Bellevernon Drive while shooting BB guns.

Accidents

-James J. Baltes, 61, of Greenville, was cited for failure to yield from a private drive after striking the vehicle driven by Douglas E. Hufford, 24, of Greenville, while pulling from a drive in the 1500 block of Wagner Avenue Dec. 19 at 11:29 a.m. The Baltes vehicle sustained disabling damage, and the Hufford vehicle had functional damage.

-Diane N. Shaneyfelt, 62, of Greenville, was cited for failure to yield when turning left following a two-vehicle collision Dec. 19 at 4:13 p.m. According to the crash report, Shaneyfelt was turning left off South Ohio Street onto Sater Street when she struck the vehicle driven by Sharon L. Sell, 76, of Bradford. The Shaneyfelt vehicle sustained functional damage, while the Sell vehicle sustained minor damage.

-Trenda R. Curtis, 52, of Greenville, was cited for improper backing after backing from a parking space in the 500 block of South Broadway Dec. 21 at 1:49 p.m. and striking the vehicle driven by James P. Robinson, 56, of Greenville. Both vehicles had minor damage.

-Jeffery R. Stammen, 52, of Union City, Indiana, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control and operating a vehicle impaired after a one-vehicle crash Dec. 22 at 12:12 a.m.

According to the report, Stammen was on Union Street at Fort Recovery Road when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree and gravestones at the Greenville Cemetery. His vehicle sustained disabling damage.
