COLUMBUS — More than 1,500 school choice supporters rallied at the Ohio Statehouse recently to encourage Ohio’s elected leaders to support empowering Ohio families and students with educational options.
“Today we saw more than 1,500 students, parents, school leaders, and supporters come together at the Statehouse to celebrate school choice and the opportunities it provides to Ohio families,” said School Choice Ohio Executive Director Kaleigh Lemaster. “This rally sends a strong message to our elected leaders that advocates are joining together to support empowering families with quality educational options, so Ohio students can attend a learning environment where they can reach their full potential.”
The School Choice Rally featured several key speakers, including Ohio House Speaker Clifford A. Rosenberger, Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof , Senator Matt Huffman, Representative Andrew Brenner, Representative Bill Patmon, Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore David Long, Former Louisiana State Senator Ann Duplessis, and local school choice advocates and students.
“Parents deserve quality educational options for their students. If their current school isn’t the best fit, it affects that student’s learning,” said Senator Matt Huffman, a strong champion for school choice who emceed the Rally. “I want to make sure that all Ohioans have the opportunity for their children to be educated in an environment that best fits their needs.”
“We were thrilled to join with so many today to celebrate school choice in Ohio, which is helping thousands of students in our state receive the quality education they deserve in the learning environment that best fits their needs,” said Lemaster.
School Choice Ohio is the only statewide organization that educates parents on the education options available for their children and advocates for the expansion of quality education options for every Ohio child. For more information about school choice in Ohio, visit www.scohio.org.
