New Madison News: United Methodist Church has 2 events approaching

0

Finally sun and warm breezes! Thoughts are able to settle on flowers for our pots and gardens and getting vegetable plants in the ground.

School children are in the midst of summer camp sign-ups and plans for prom. And Mother’s Day is coming! Two things at the United Methodist Church.

First remember there will be Camp Growth as a summer time activity for children through grade 6. The activities are planned around a curriculum of learning, crafts and Bible lessons. Keep this mid-June activity circled and look for more information.

And, on June 4, plan to participate or watch the 5K event. This annual event begins at the back of the church and follows a course within the village. It is stroller and dog friendly!

Early registration can be completed at www.gtraces.com or you will see forms around town. If you miss the early registration, then you can sign up at the church beginning at 7:30 a.m. The race is set for 9 a.m. A one-half-mile fun race for kids will begin at 8:30 a.m.All age groups are invited and will be recognized with plaques for top overall male/female finishers and medals will be distributed to the top three male/female finishers as well as the top three in each division.Tri-Village students are encouraged to join the fun. Registration can be free for those under age 14 but there is no shirt. The same is true for those age 65 and over.

Proceeds supports the church’s work in local missions. This race is part of the Darke County Wellness Challenge. Plan ahead and participate in these activities.

Congratulations to Della Cassity. She became a great-grandmother when David, son of Roger and Janet Cassity of Arcanum, and his wife, Mallory, welcomed Ivis, the namesake of his great-grandfather. A family gathering was held to welcome the newest family member. David works with the Arcanum and Tri-Village Rescue squads and Mallory is a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital.
